A New Look Living Room with Carte Blanche

By Design: A Living Room with Carte Blanche

A capsule collection, Carte Blanche was designed to give you complete freedom to create a look you love. So, we adore seeing how people are using it to bring their style to life. People like Ola.

Ola Zwolenik (best known as @thistimeincolour on Instagram) used Sardine and Au Lait from Carte Blanche, along with Yeabridge Green from Farrow & Ball's signature collection to refresh her living room in her unique, colorful style. Thoroughly inspired by her prowess with a paintbrush, F&B caught up with Ola to find out all about her process.

Can you tell us a little about you and your home?

I'm an interior stylist, who loves colourful and eclectic décor. I live in an Edwardian home in South East London and it’s a mixture of contrasting tones and bold design choices. I'm big on adding personality to your space, while appreciating its original features at the same time.

What was your inspiration for this project?

The combination of blue and green is a favourite of mine at the moment. I wanted to challenge myself and use both colours on my living room walls. So, I went with Sardine from the Carte Blanche collection and paired it with Yeabridge Green. Then I used Au Lait on the ceiling.

How did you choose the color scheme?

Before we redecorated, our living room was painted in Hague Blue, a really dark blue with green undertones. Even though I absolutely loved it, I wanted to try something lighter this time. Our furniture was bold and colourful, so it was important to pick a shade that went with it. Choosing a much lighter blue was my first thought and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Sardine makes the room feel fresh and gives me lots of styling options, which is crucial for a colour lover like me.

How does the room make you feel?

It makes me feel calm and inspired at the same time. Having a new colour scheme helps me rediscover all the things in that room and display them in a different way. Before, I hadn't touched my alcove shelves in years and now I constantly want to play with styling and feature a different plant or a vintage treasure every week.

What can we expect to see next from you and your home?

One thing I’d love to change is the kitchen but it would be a big project with a lot of planning. So, I’m probably going to keep busy with some smaller projects in the meantime.
