“GIFTING ART” WITH CLAIBORNE RILEY
PH: Tell us about one of the most heartwarming gifts you like to give?
CR: When the kids were little we started giving to Heifer International because it was something they could really understand and take part in…it’s a great feeling to help people in such a very real way.
PH: What is one of your favorite holiday traditions?
CR: work in acrylics, on canvas mostly. Painting is something that I need to do, that I am driven to do…some days I love it, some days I don’t, because it’s intense, and frustrating, and rewarding, and surprising… and I am just lucky to be able to do what I love.

Artist Claiborne Riley’s bold, graphic, and colorful paintings showcase her eye for design and exacting composition. Abstract landscapes and shapes inspired by nature, feature her definitive focus on geometric shape and saturated color.
A background in studio art, a Masters from Virginia Commonwealth University’s renowned Brand Center and a career as an Art Director at the highly creative Martin Agency, all influence Claiborne’s stylistic and structured approach to her craft. This unique aesthetic influenced her work as an interior designer as well, in which each room became a living composition that balances function and form with art placement to create versatile, rich spaces. She is solely focusing on her art, which has been a much anticipated goal.
