"I currently live in Richmond, Virginia with my husband, children and dog. I am a self-taught artist who received a BA in Political Science from Davidson College and a Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling from Johns Hopkins University.

It’s not surprising that the project that I loved most as a young student was an extensive map drawing assignment. Precise lines, well-placed color, neat rows, curvaceous bodies of water, sharp pencils, and a good straight ruler. I was in heaven! Decades later, frustrated that despite my best efforts, I couldn’t find the art for my home that I pictured in my head. But then I thought (fueled by COVID amounts of time)….that wasn’t what I wanted something that would theoretically require the skills of a map-maker?

So following the sage advice of my dad, “Carpe Diem, Merrill! Carpe Diem!” I seized the opportunity to pursue a passion that I had put off to the side for too long. Art moves me. Quotes inspire me. Color affects me. Boldness encourages me."
